Just In Time

Just in time – JIT delivery: a technique that allows goods to arrive on site exactly when they are needed, reducing inventory levels and associated investment and costs.
Just-in-time is actually the opposite of the master production schedule defined by the MRP method, where production is triggered by sales forecasts (push flows). In Just-in-Time, flows are pulled, production is triggered by orders, and inventories are reduced, with the risk being the system’s lack of responsiveness.
